Leaders are Winners – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

John Maxwell teaches that “Leadership is influence…nothing more, nothing less.” Influencing others to follow our example is a critical attribute to leadership and its positive effects. As a leader in my home, my workplace, my church, my business and my books that I write, I welcome and embrace my coveted role, in part, because I know that I am influencing others. This is accomplished through my mannerisms, character, what I say (words), what I do (actions),  and how I interact with others (behavior).

As you begin your day today, think about how you influence others. Your unique leadership style that is on display today will influence others for a lifetime.

Leadership at its Core – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

How do you know that you are actually ready and equipped to lead an organization, its people and/or the multiple initiatives that are required your undivided attention? Well, while there is no “1” answer for all, there are some basic principles and strategies that we need to maximize our success. They are:

Delegation – be comfortable when you assign work to others that they will perform

Attention-to-detail – pay close attention in the beginning, get good instructions and check in periodically

Trust – build a team around you that you can trust, short and long term

Appreciate – give applause regularly, publicly and privately, based upon the personality of your team. That may not say anything, but it is appreciated by them

Training – provide needed training on a recurring basis to keep skills sharp and crisp

Love – show unconditional love for all, both customers and staff. It goes a l-o-n-g way

Support – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

On this day, I want to reminder us all (including myself) to lend a hand to others through our unwavering support. As a leader and pastor, I am always seeking ways to support others by bringing out the BEST in them. To this end, I have forged key partnerships and friendships with people from ALL walks of life as a means to support them in their respective endeavors.

Last week, one of the area schools called me to ask if I could speak some words of encouragement to 1,500 elementary and middle school students, and their fathers, for their men’s day program. I said “YES.” As a sign of support, I will inspire and motivate them all to doing their best in everything that they do – and to show support for others. We demonstrate our support as follows:

Availability

Unselfishness

Willingness to commit

Acknowledging others

Valuing others

Will you show your support today. Change a life and smile!!
