How to Weather the Storm – Wednesday Word

Life happens! At times, we are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Still, we can be in the right place at the right time.

Last week was particularly harsh for our friends on Capitol Hill and the 45th POTUS:

  • On Monday, the 45th POTUS’ personal attorney had his office raided by the feds,
  • On Tuesday, the CEO of Facebook testified before the US Senate as millions around the world watched a billionaire skillfully dodge most questions about privacy and data sharing,
  • On Wednesday, the 3rd most powerful congressman on Capitol Hill – Speaker of the House – announced his decision NOT to run for re-election,
  • On Thursday, contents from the former FBI Director’s new book was leaked and it included some unkind personal views of the 45th POTUS, and finally,
  • On Friday, the USE struck Syria with surface-to-air missile fire.

Wow!! How would you bounce back from this kind of week?!?!

I offer the following recommendations:

  1. Stay focused – on the task at hand.
  2. Avoid criticism – do not point fingers at others. When you point your finger at others, three are pointing back at you!
  3. Take personal responsibility – put on your big boy pants and accept what YOU did wrong. Take corrective measures.
  4. Do not look back – press forward with a new and changed attitude.
  5. Exhale – it’s time to reflect. Your introspection of the situation(s) can catapult you toward making needed internal changes.

Leadership at its Core – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

One of my favorite leadership quotes comes from my primary leadership mentor – John C. Maxwell. Maxwell teaches us that “Leadership is about influence…nothing more, nothing less.”

Influence is best achieved through relationships. When we take the time to develop and nurture them, we are allowed in for a conversation and open communication…then the relationship is formed cultivated.

Your influence is a direct feed into one’s life based upon your relationship with them. Invest in someone today!

The Service of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – A 50 Year Remembrance

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Uncategorized

Let’s not forget the significant contributions of a man that stood in the face of bigotry, racism, oppression and evil. On this day, 50 years ago, he was assassinated for standing for what was RIGHT. His service to others is a shining memory of our charge in 2018 and beyond – “So in everything, do to others what you would have them to do to you…” (Matthew 7:12 – NIV).

As you move about your day, remember the lessons that Dr. King taught us through his service to the poor, down trodden, helpless, children, illiterate and impoverished. Make a difference – stand up when you see wrong and praise what is right.
