Many hats – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

I, like you, wear many, many hats. That is, you and I juggle lots of responsibilities simultaneously. From time to time, we can lose focus as a result.

However, do not lose your steam and continue to persevere. Here’s why ==>

As a leader, so many count on us to give direction and to help them to navigate their day-to-day affairs. In doing so, we are aiding their aspirations, goals and dreams as well as sharpening their gifts and talents. They should not have to think about the strategic, only the tactical.

Therefore, while we wear many hats at any given time, keep pressing forward so that those under our leadership will, in time, become prepared to take some of the responsibilities off of our plates. As a leader, many hats goes with the territory but does not have to maintain long-term. Train and coach your people, delegate and watch them blossom. You’ll be glad that you did!!

Differentiation – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

What differentiates you from others? What are you unique gifts and talents?

As I build my new leadership development and executive coaching business, I meet and greet with a plethora of potential business partners to discuss the question.I deliberately point out unique qualities that differentiate me from what others have to offer. Then, I bring together a TEAM of individuals that I trust and admire to help to address a specific issue/concern as a problem-solver? Here are some differentiators to consider:

  • How many years of experience do you have in a particular field?
  • What unique qualifications and/or educational level do you bring to the table?
  • Are you certified in a given discipline?
  • Have you performed similar work in foreign countries?
  • Do you possess a unique clearance to perform special services?

Look for ways to distinguish your skills from the pack. Plan your work…Work your plan. Make a difference today!!

A New Business Venture – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Why would someone start a new business? For money…for prestige…for recognition…for visibility…because everyone else is doing it…boredom with the current job?? What would be your reasoning?

I believe it is an opportunity to solve a problem. I founded The Johnson Leadership Group to do just that!

Our country, nation and society is devoid of good leadership. Many baby boomers retired from the workforce, in droves, over the past three years, thus, leaving behind a current and next generation of workers without direction, mentors and coaches. They also do not have an example to follow.

The Johnson Leadership Group, established this year, will address the current needs by working with government, schools, corporations and churches. To this end, we will enter into formal contracts, offer timely speaking topics and expose this generation’s workers to appropriate training that will help them to navigate the challenges that they will face.

Our website is operational and our certifications will soon be completed.

I urge you, too, to identify the need and go for it! Your products or services are needed for the world to enjoy. Why not you?

Sharing – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

This week is quite remarkable:

  1. On April 30, I celebrated 6 months of post-retirement from the federal government after 34 years of total service. I sent out a social media post thanking everyone for their support and help over my productive career. I also celebrated with my youngest son, Cameron, on his transition into college full-time. The local school system has a very strong and supportive program(s) for autistic students to help him along,
  2. On May 1, we welcomed in a new month with gorgeous weather on the east coast of the USA and well as National Small Business Week. As you know, I am the proud founder and CEO of The Johnson Leadership Group, specializing in leadership development training, coaching and mentoring for the current and next generation of leaders,
  3. Today, May 2nd, my wife and I celebrate our spiritual birthday. 25 years ago, we prayed the prayer of Salvation and accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into our hearts,
  4. On May 3rd, I join the Governor of the great state of Maryland, and many other of my fellow residents, for the annual National Day of Prayer breakfast in Annapolis, followed by a book signing and discussion at His Way Christian Bookstore at 7:00pm in Glen Burnie, Maryland, and
  5. On May 4th, I  attend an all-day leadership training symposium with hundreds of thought-leaders and entrepreneurs as I seek ways to expand my network and increase clientele for my business.

I am sharing the good news with you to encourage you to continue to follow your DREAMS, GOALS and ASPIRATIONS. Never give up! Life is too short to stop. Keep pressing!!

Join me on this Thursday evening at 7PM. I look forward to seeing you!
