After the Shutdown

Now that the government is reopened, I used the past 35 days to carefully plan for such inconveniences. As a trainer and teacher for the government workforce amongst my clients, a large invoice was unpaid during this time and I felt a bit of pain as a result.

Moving forward, the lesson for us all is to plan more carefully, be on the lookout for minor setbacks by putting aside some extra funds, and to expand our portfolio of revenue streams. I took my own latter advice, and still supported government agencies that were not affected, and received my pay, but the largest invoice was “stuck” in the coffers of the one agency that was impacted. Fortunately, it will be paid this week!!

Stop, look and listen as we collectively and individually prepare for 2019 and beyond. We will be the better for this type of planning.

My Dream

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Following this week’s national holiday in honor of the Rev. D. Martin Luther King, Jr., I am living my “dream” that has produced lots of fruit, fulfillment and service to others. This is the life that Dr. King lived as well.

Last evening, my god friend and fellow author interviewed my on her TV show “Writer’s Haven” that is aired on 23 channels. At the core of my interview was my thankfulness for the many blessings and the opportunity to write and inspire others. It’s been an honor to be on this journey.

As you travel life’s road, be mindful of the needs of others. They need and require your gifts. When you do, you will live fulfilled life that is joyful, happy and endearing.

Why Follow?

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Uncategorized

One of the many leadership nuggets that I have learned from my mentor is the importance of influence and our followers as we lead.

This week, I am training federal government mid-level employees about leadership that are not impacted by the partial government shutdown. While they are not managers, by title/position, they are leaders although they do not know it yet. I am eager to share with them that they are indeed leaders and can get colleagues and staff to follow the based upon their example, work ethic and character.

Remember, it’s not about the position or title, it’s about your ethical behavior and unwavering character that will attract followers.

Happy New Year 2019!!

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Uncategorized

We begin another new year together and I am super excited about the possibilities!

Less than one year ago, I started a leadership development business – The Johnson Leadership Group – with a specific focus on training and coaching the front-line, mid-level and senior-level employees of the federal government, corporations, non-profits as well as churches. The need is tremendous and I am available..

In parallel, I continue to be active in the publishing industry through my writing journey as I convert my current series of books to audio format and begin writing a new series of 5 books on the topic of ‘leadership.’

I urge you to please write down your goals and begin to execute. You cannot finish until you first START. Happy New Year.
