The Season – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

‘Tis the season to reflect and restore. We have all been moving at light speed with our business transactions, networking, engaging others and meeting various deadlines. To this end, we tend to be a bit fatigued as the end of the year approaches.

So…I encourage us all to take a step back, unwind and begin a period of relaxing and reflecting. It will recharge your batteries and set the tone for a successful 2019 and beyond. After all, your laser focus on what’s to come is the perfect set-up for great things that will happen.

Unity – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Today, our nation pays respect and honor to our 41st President of these United States. President Bush’s life will be replayed as we come together, with his extended family, to honor his life, his work, and his dedication to our country in his varied positions of responsibility.

What’s ironic about death is that it brings people together, albeit for a brief moment in time, as a sign of unity, togetherness & oneness. There is power in unity!! We set our differences (perceived and real) to the side, shake hands, hug each other, say “I love you,” and even shed a tear together. Death commemorates a certain closure to an era and its significance is endearing and long lasting.

So today, as we watch our former President’s funeral procession, honor his legacy, remember his leadership and reflect upon his service – both military and as a government civil servant – I ask that you also take the time to put aside differences and come together with your fellow U.S. citizens, take time to reflect upon this great life that the Lord has granted to us and be thankful that the 41st President crossed our paths. Even if you disagree with some of his policies and his leadership, he is a child of God. His family extended their hand to the 45th President with an invitation despite the past unkind rhetoric that was directed toward the Bush family during the recent presidential campaign.

Use today to reflect, celebrate, honor and promote unity. In doing so, we will honor the Lord through our actions.

Vision – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Vision is the ability to “see” far ahead of others through faith, drive, grit, tenacity and perseverance.

To this end, visionaries are ‘trend setters’ in that they can “see” an outcome to their goals, dreams and aspirations. Then, they act on what they can see. This is the difference between success (where opportunity meets preparation) and falling short (missing the mark).

I encourage you today to visualize the outcome of what you are aiming for. This is vision. Then, construct a solid plan of action in writing, that is measurable, and place it in your office to see each and every day. This is keep you motivated!

As you live your dreams, you realize your aspirations and exercise the steps toward your goals. I ma living mine….as CEO of The Johnson Leadership Group, in only 7 months, I have earned 5 subcontracts and 8 prime contracts to teach leadership training across the federal government, churches and corporations. This does not just “happen.” I have a plan and vision – and putting them to work!!

You can too!! Do it!

New Adventure – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

My recent travels to Kenya AFRICA was uplifting, inspiring, educational and awesome, to say the least.

As I led the USA at this year’s annual National Men’s Ministry Conference in Busia County, I was able to learn a new and different culture, expand my network globally, heighten my awareness of other’s concerns and bring hope/inspiration to a people that do have access to resources as we do in America. The newly appointed Presiding Bishop and I discussed many things and is looking to me to bring some needed leadership training to their nation. Of course, I said yes!

I always look forward to new adventures. My wife and I are planning now for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan where we lead a group of 20 other couples for 2 weeks of fun, sporting events, exploring restaurants and touring the host city. What a way to add excitement to your life – new adventures. Try it…you’ll be glad that you did!

The Journey – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

The month of August 2018 has been especially rewarding and challenging at the same time. I traveled A LOT this month across 7 states in the USA, 2 continents (USA and Africa) and three nations while in Africa – by car and airplane. I probably clocked over 10,000 total miles easily.

However, when I look back, it was an end to a means. You see, I strive to form new relationships during this phase of my life, build my business, continue to work my ministry and learn & grow in the process. It was a delight travel to each destination – 102nd camp meeting of the National Association of the Church of God, Martha’s Vineyard, Kenya Africa and West Palm Beach, FL. I had an important role as a leader at each stop and people were counting on me to be present and attentive. I was…but I also endured lost luggage, missed flights, hours of driving along the highways (as a driver and a passenger), overnight stays in hotels (some good and some bad) and hot nights without a/c. The lesson here is attitude (how we handle such) vice what happens to us.

It’s not always about the journey that leads to the ultimate destination. I wouldn’t necessarily repeat my travels for this month, but I would indeed chart the course again. The new friendships from the experience are immeasurable.

Restore – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

There is a time to “restore” as we all take a needed break from our day to day hustle and bustle. That said, my family and I are enjoying are annual pilgrimage to Martha’s Vineyard for a needed time of rest and reflection. It’s been our way to reflect and relax prior to the end of summertime. This is our 20th year on the island. For the 1st time, our God grand daughter is traveling with us. She loves it…and so do we.

During this week, we see friends from near and far, talk some business as we plan for our Fall season transitions, but mostly enjoy the fair, great food, fellowship and companionship. For many of our friends, we refer to them as family. They are as close as “white on rice.”

I encourage us all to restore and reflect during this time of the year. It’s good for our spirit, soul and body. As I prepare for the multiple events that are forthcoming this Fall season, I study in the quiet and peaceful environment that Martha’s Vineyard affords.

Try it…you’ll like it.
