Change – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Would you agree that “change” is inevitable?? Me too.

Everything around us changes constantly – people, seasons, clothes, hair, stock market, habits etc.

Point is…we NEED to change and modify our behavior as well. It is what facilitates growth. If we choose NOT to change, life will pass us by.

Over time, we MUST adjust to the current times and trends to remain relevant. Then, we can be the catalyst to promote growth and change in others.

Expand Your Horizons – Wednesday Word of Wisdom

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

As you already know, I recently retired from the federal government after 34 years of total service. My primary field of expertise was acquisition and procurement. My career was marvelous as I was well supported by a large number of colleagues, professionals and bosses as I worked in numerous positions.

That said, I am now being tapped to share my expertise with others. Today, I get the opportunity to speak to a large group of senior level officials to give them insights into the federal acquisition process. I can remember back in 1990’s and 2000’s some of the many experiences that resonate as if they just happened on yesterday. In exchange for being available to share what I know. I will earn $1,000 for a 45-minute talk.

While I have transitioned into other areas of expertise in my life: Author, minister and pastor, leadership development, business owner, certified John Maxwell team coach and mentor, professional speaker – my core expertise lies in what I did for most of my professional life. Never let that go!!

So…expand your horizons, be marketable, trust your instincts and go for it! You’ll be glad you did.

Hope – Wednesday Word of Wisdom

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

You’ve heard the expression – “Keep HOPE alive!” Well…HOPE is a positive affirmation that gives us belief that something that we REALLY desire  (that has not yet come to pass) actually will (in due time). It gives us the faith to continue to march forward in order to accomplish our dream, goal and aspiration.

So…never give up on HOPE. It keeps us going and breathes a sign of relief into our overall planning, execution and ultimate achievement. This, in turn, gives us confidence when we face the next challenge (because we will).

HOPE – keep it alive!!

Excellence – Wednesday Word of Wisdom

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Excellence is defined as “the state of being excellent.” Thus, “excellent” means:

  • Superior
  • Very good of its kind
  • Eminently good.

We should therefore ALWAYS strive towards excellence with every opportunity that presents itself. We DO NOT get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression…so, deliver excellent content, have an excellent personality and represent ourselves in an excellent fashion at all times.

It’s that simple, excellence is the standard. Nothing more…nothing less.

Persistence – Wednesday Word of Wisdom

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

I happen to be entering into a season of “reflection.” At 57 years young, I just completed 34 years of total service with the federal government and retired, 18 years as a best-selling and multiple-award winning author, 20 years in active ministry work, and finally, beginning my 5th year as the senior pastor at a local church – a small, yet impactful local church. This year marks the end of the 5-year strategic plan that I presented to my church in lat 2013. The overwhelming majority of the goals and objectives have been accomplished over the last year or two.

I am not done. Now, I enter into an area that is desperately needed worldwide: LEADERSHIP TRAINING. In the footsteps of John C. Maxwell, I, too, am on a rampage to help to develop the current and next generation of leaders. The number of mentors, coaches, speakers and trainers is grossly lacking and I hope to fill this void in my own unique way.

At this point, “persistence” is the word that resonates with me the most. Here is what I have learned through the experience of being “persistent”:

Patience with others who do not quite your goals and aspirations

Gratefulness for the manifold blessings and learning along the way

Humility as a result of being too selfish and /or self-centered

Boldness to continue to work hard toward your individual and collective (on behalf of others) dreams

Focus on the issue at hand, bringing in others to assist and never stopping to achieve the desired outcome.

Your persistence will pay off in the end, but DO NOT STOP. There’s work to do…

Happy New Year – Wednesday Word of Wisdom

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Happy New Year to you and your family!

We should view the new year as an opportunity to begin anew. That is, revamp, restore, renew and reinvigorate your goals, dreams and aspirations. Seeds planted in 2017 (and before) should be cultivated and revived during the first month of 2018, then continue to nurture and stir for the results that you desire.

These are the exact steps that I am taking to ensure total and complete progress toward my goals:

Signing a new 5-book deal on leadership with a major publisher (seeds were sown in 2017 – a 67 page book proposal)

Speaking on the topic of leadership to over 500,000 attendees across the globe (seeds were sown throughout 2017 but especially during the latter half of 2017)

I move into my 5th year as senior pastor at the Accokeek First Church of God. Our theme this year is: GIVE. I will teach our members to be givers throughout 2018. This is how we usher in blessings.

I intend to win $500,000 (in value) federal and state government contracts for leadership development training. My target market is front-line, mid-level and senior-level leaders, both current and net generation leaders (seeds were sown since 2010 leading up to my recent retirement from the federal government on October 31, 2017). I have met with multiple key decision-makers and officials to position myself well.

Move out on your dreams; I am – Happy New Year!!

Thanks a bunch – Wednesday’s Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Today’s blog is a simple “thank you” as we come to the end of another year. Thank for all of your support, love, concern and cheers as I transition (post-retirement) into chapter 2 of this great life.

Leadership is my current passion and is what drives me…with my books, my teachings, my everyday interactions with folks. Being represented by The Hartline Literary Agency as I await my publishing deal with a major publisher, I reflect upon the hard work of the past and upcoming assignments as they present themselves.

I am super excited and again thank you all for your support. Much appreciated!!

Commitment – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

This week, a commitment that I made really paid off through a key relationship with an international television program – AIM Christian Television. I discovered this opportunity on LinkedIn. I committed many months ago to provide content to assist with their launch and, in turn, they reviewed and featured my material. One of my many messages to people within my sphere of influence surrounds the principle of committing to activities and initiatives that help others to achieve their goals and dreams.

Please take a look at my message on this topic. I challenge you to make the commitment!

Family! – Wednesday Word of Wisdom

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Following our Thanksgiving Day meal together and enjoying the fellowship and love, spending quality time with family is a cherished gift. What a joy to be with family during the holiday season! It is a time to reminisce and reflect upon the good times from the past and to look forward to much fun in the future.

The family is a unit of close and intimate love, concern and advocacy for one another. During this holiday season, remember to reach out to family members, near and far, and remind them of your love and genuine care for each of them. This is meaningful, uplifting and encouraging for all to enjoy and remember, especially during this time of the year.

One of my cherished memories is my family as we gathered together as “one” at my recent retirement ceremony after 34 years of total service with the federal government. I am thankful and grateful!!
