Lent – a season of preparation

Today, we enter a 40-day period of restoration, consecration, focus, prayer and concentration on what’s most important in our blessed lives – faith and God. We look forward to Easter (Resurrection) Sunday – when Jesus arose to give us power to live a life filled with love, care for others and optimism in all situations.

You see, we must be mindful to always acknowledge where our health, business success and open door opportunities come from – God almighty!

As we continue among our paths in 2019, please prioritize the presence of God in our lives and THANK HIM for health, prosperity and success. I do….and have no regrets.

Celebration of Life!

Episcopal Pastor and Mrs. John Cheery

At the age of 79, my most influential pastor, John A. Cherry, passed during a routine medical procedure, this month. On yesterday, I joined together with thousands in Suitland, Maryland to attend his funeral. What a joy!

You see, Pastor Cherry was the absolutely best pastor for me during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. His style of teaching God’s Word was very clear, concise, crisp, simple, understandable and easy to digest. He complemented his teaching through his Godly lifestyle. I grew tremendously as a man, husband, father, leader in the workplace at the mid-level and senior-level, leader in the church, including Senior Pastor, an author and a neighbor. I am truly grateful.

I celebrate the life of this man and the church that was built in 1981 with 24 members until 2006 (25 years later) to over 24,000 members. I was member #8313 after joining the church on May 2, 1993.

In many ways, my life mirrors his – thank you Pastor Cherry. I celebrate you!

Walk by Faith – Not by Sight!

Client list continues to grow & expand

Post-retirement is a wonderful time to cherish life’s accomplishments and to begin a phase of sole focus on helping others achieve their dreams. That’s where I am.

You see, I have discovered that our fulfillment in life is a direct link to how much we purposely help and assist others. That’s why I spend my days coaching, mentoring and training others. I can deposit into them what I did right and what I did wrong. It’s my sweet spot.

My pulpit reflects the work that I do in my business and ministry in the USA and abroad. In just one year (February 1, 2018 to February 1, 2019), many doors have been opened for me to utilize my God-given gifts – teaching, administration and leadership – to help churches, corporations, federal government agencies and non-profits, and their front-line, mid-level and senior-level workforce.

I would encourage you keep pressing forward and do not focus on what you “see,” but instead live out your dreams and aspirations that will, in turn, open doors beyond your ability to open for yourself. It’s about others, not ourselves.

Random Acts of Kindness Week

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality

Governor Larry Hogan
Lt Governor Boyd Rutherford

As the new year continues to unfold, our distinguished Governor of the great state of Maryland signed a new Executive order to increase the term limits for his Commission on Suicide Prevention. He recognizes that continuity is needed to effect meaningful change for both victims and perpetrators of this increasingly devastating disease – taking out one’s frustration(s) by ending their life.

I am delighted to appointed to serve on this important Commission – for 4 years. I intend to initiate acts of kindness to demonstrate that God loves everyone and wants the best for everyone regardless of how one may feel about themselves.

As we reflect upon this week, please be kind to one another. You don’t know who really needs it!!

Why We Value Others

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

This week, I/we celebrate one full year of operating The Johnson Leadership Group – an organization that is dedicated to training, coaching and mentoring the current and next generation of leaders.

Good leadership is missing from our society at the present time It doesn’t help the situation by watching the actions and words of the 45th President of the USA. People glean from his lead…not good!

As my organization continues to partner with churches, corporations non-profits and corporations, we are especially careful to instill leadership principles and strategies so that others will grow and live out their dreams. This begins with valuing and caring for others and lifting their confidence in every area of their lives. When we do so, we make this world a much better place.

My challenge for you in 2019 is to value those under your leadership – watch them flourish and excel!

After the Shutdown

Now that the government is reopened, I used the past 35 days to carefully plan for such inconveniences. As a trainer and teacher for the government workforce amongst my clients, a large invoice was unpaid during this time and I felt a bit of pain as a result.

Moving forward, the lesson for us all is to plan more carefully, be on the lookout for minor setbacks by putting aside some extra funds, and to expand our portfolio of revenue streams. I took my own latter advice, and still supported government agencies that were not affected, and received my pay, but the largest invoice was “stuck” in the coffers of the one agency that was impacted. Fortunately, it will be paid this week!!

Stop, look and listen as we collectively and individually prepare for 2019 and beyond. We will be the better for this type of planning.

My Dream

Following this week’s national holiday in honor of the Rev. D. Martin Luther King, Jr., I am living my “dream” that has produced lots of fruit, fulfillment and service to others. This is the life that Dr. King lived as well.

Last evening, my god friend and fellow author interviewed my on her TV show “Writer’s Haven” that is aired on 23 channels. At the core of my interview was my thankfulness for the many blessings and the opportunity to write and inspire others. It’s been an honor to be on this journey.

As you travel life’s road, be mindful of the needs of others. They need and require your gifts. When you do, you will live fulfilled life that is joyful, happy and endearing.

The Season – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Podcasts , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

‘Tis the season to reflect and restore. We have all been moving at light speed with our business transactions, networking, engaging others and meeting various deadlines. To this end, we tend to be a bit fatigued as the end of the year approaches.

So…I encourage us all to take a step back, unwind and begin a period of relaxing and reflecting. It will recharge your batteries and set the tone for a successful 2019 and beyond. After all, your laser focus on what’s to come is the perfect set-up for great things that will happen.

Unity – Wednesday Word

By Kevin Wayne Johnson | Authors , Books , Christian Living , Christianity , Devotions , Interview , John Maxwell , Leadership , Religion , Spirituality , Uncategorized

Today, our nation pays respect and honor to our 41st President of these United States. President Bush’s life will be replayed as we come together, with his extended family, to honor his life, his work, and his dedication to our country in his varied positions of responsibility.

What’s ironic about death is that it brings people together, albeit for a brief moment in time, as a sign of unity, togetherness & oneness. There is power in unity!! We set our differences (perceived and real) to the side, shake hands, hug each other, say “I love you,” and even shed a tear together. Death commemorates a certain closure to an era and its significance is endearing and long lasting.

So today, as we watch our former President’s funeral procession, honor his legacy, remember his leadership and reflect upon his service – both military and as a government civil servant – I ask that you also take the time to put aside differences and come together with your fellow U.S. citizens, take time to reflect upon this great life that the Lord has granted to us and be thankful that the 41st President crossed our paths. Even if you disagree with some of his policies and his leadership, he is a child of God. His family extended their hand to the 45th President with an invitation despite the past unkind rhetoric that was directed toward the Bush family during the recent presidential campaign.

Use today to reflect, celebrate, honor and promote unity. In doing so, we will honor the Lord through our actions.
